With the growth and expansion of Clovis, it became apparent that more than one Catholic Church was necessary to meet the needs of our Catholic community. On November 21, 2010, on the Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, Divine Mercy celebrated its first Mass, as a Mission church to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, at the Clovis East High School Multi-purpose Room.
Divine Mercy Catholic Church was officially established as a parish on May 15, 2016 under the direction of the Most Reverend Armando X. Ochoa, D.D. Bishop, Diocese of Fresno.
Divine Mercy is rooted in the Catholic Faith, branching out into the Clovis East Community within boundaries that extend to Sanger, Shaver Lake, and Prather. The parishioners of Divine Mercy are a body of diverse individuals, coming together under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to promote the mission of Jesus Christ.
Ever since Divine Mercy's first Mass 13 years ago, there have been dreams of having a home of our own. We have been through years of planning, waiting, and sacrificing by many of our dedicated parishioners. Today, we find ourselves closer than ever to making our dream a reality. Hard work and generous stewardship have left us with a sizable savings account and enough to start construction later this year. The Building Our Home of Spirit and Life Capital Campaign is now underway to help ensure we are able to finish these projects. With participation from the entire parish, we can build our home and help shape a positive future for our growing community.
May the Lord continue to bless our efforts as we establish our parish and build our new Catholic Church.
In August we completed a planning study that revealed broad support for upcoming building projects and the capital campaign to help fund them. The planning study also raised a number of appropriate questions and concerns regarding our plans. To be transparent and keep parishioners well informed throughout the process, each week we will be sharing a series of FAQs. Stay tuned each week for important information regarding our projects, goals and the campaign process! Just click the links below to learn more!
